The Wandering Mind

Live.

Live in the moment.

Not in the past. Not in the future.

Now.

Here it comes...

Tears and fears,
And all you hold dear.

Hold on. Hold on...

Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.

The Threshold of Change

While stopping at a traffic light junction on the way back from work just now, I heard quite a number of car horns as they passed the junction. It was then that I realized there were two young men, standing in the pouring evening rain, holding up a PAS banner with the sign "HON TANDA SETUJU".

Shared between them was a small umbrella, barely enough to shade both of them from the terrible weather. Surely they were soaking wet, but still, there they were bravely upholding their cause against the storm.

How well those two men reflected the state of our country: A nation braving the odds to usher change.

For 50 years, we were divided by our differences, fostered by a government that spread an atmosphere of mere "tolerance" rather than developing a true understanding and appreciation for one another.

And yet 50 years later, here we are, standing hand in hand, despite different cultures, despite different skin color, despite different financial status and social upbringings. If anything at all, GE13 has done what our government has only feebly trumpeted all these 50 years - It has brought us all together.

Here we are, desperately united at long last, standing at the threshold for Change - Just like those two young men, sharing a small umbrella in the pouring rain.

The traffic light turned green, and as I rode past them, I beeped my tiny motorcycle horn, joining the growing chorus of Malaysians just behind me.
